Do I need a separate bank account for my Georgian individual business?
Practical guidance for international readers · Georgia
Use an account whose bank terms permit business receipts. An account being in your personal name does not establish that it may be used for entrepreneurial activity.
What this means in practice
Tell the bank the intended use before receiving customer payments. Separating personal transfers from business receipts also makes statements easier to reconcile with invoices and returns. Account classification and tax classification are different questions: declaring a receipt does not override the bank's product restrictions.
An individual entrepreneur is a natural person doing business in their own name, but that legal status does not decide what a particular bank account may receive. The bank’s product terms do. Describe your activity, customer countries, currencies and expected payments when asking. Request written confirmation for the exact IBAN and account product; a card label or a successful test transfer does not establish that the account terms permit business receipts.
