How does a multicurrency bank account work in Georgia?
Practical guidance for international readers · Georgia
A multicurrency product normally maintains separate balances in supported currencies. Receiving and spending funds can involve different account details, conversion rules and fees.
What this means in practice
Request the bank's incoming-transfer instructions for the actual payment currency. Before a card transaction, identify which balance will be debited and whether conversion occurs. A shared banking interface does not mean that one set of intermediary-bank details works for every currency. Keep the bank's current instructions rather than copying another customer's example.
For each incoming currency, ask the bank for the beneficiary details and any intermediary-bank instructions specific to that currency. Before using the card, check which currency balance is linked and how conversion works. A January 2025 applicant reported that Georgian authorities considered several currency balances together for residence evidence; this is one experience, not a general rule. Ask the authority which currencies and exchange-rate date it accepts and obtain an official statement for every balance.
