Can I register as an individual entrepreneur in Georgia through a representative?

Practical guidance for international readers · Georgia

Yes. A representative may submit an individual-entrepreneur application if the authority document and the rest of the filing meet the Public Registry’s requirements. The online Smart Contract service announced in June 2026 is limited to Georgian citizens with a valid Georgian identity document.

What this means in practice

Prepare the authority document first

The Registry’s business-registration FAQ says a representative’s authority must be notarised or executed under Georgia’s law on electronic documents and electronic trust services. If the document is made abroad, confirm with the receiving authority what notarisation, legalisation and Georgian translation it will accept. Requirements can depend on the country where the document is signed and any applicable treaty; do not assume the same apostille or consular route works everywhere.

Make the power of attorney specific enough for the tasks you want the representative to perform: submit the individual-entrepreneur registration, sign or provide the application where permitted, receive the registration decision and extract, and correct the filing if the Registry requests it. If you also want the representative to apply for Small Business Status or communicate with the Revenue Service, confirm that those tax actions are expressly covered and accepted by the tax authority.

Plan for timing, address and handover

The representative needs your identity details and a qualifying Georgian legal address. The Registry lists GEL 26 for one working day or GEL 75 on the filing day for individual-entrepreneur registration. That Registry clock starts when a complete application is filed; it does not include the time to issue the power of attorney, translate it, send originals, arrange the address or resolve deficiencies.

Ask the representative to send you the final registry extract and decision, the tax-account access instructions, and the result of any separate tax-status application. Keep control of your own login credentials. Remote business registration does not guarantee remote bank onboarding or account approval. NAPR’s June 2026 announcement describes the Smart Contract service as available to Georgian citizens; its FAQ specifies a valid Georgian ID card or passport, so an international applicant should not assume that route is available.
